It was a random mix tape from around 1997ish by Dj Number 9. It was spaced out disco house. The beginning of the tape sampled John Lennon saying "Number 9" over and over.....
anyone have any info? Or know who this guy is?
never heard of him, what area is/was the tape from?
I'm was in Boston but the girl who gave me the tape I believe said he was from Connecticut. There was also a track towards the beginning that heavily sampled "Open Sesame" by Kool and the Gang. It was a one of a kind mix.

Yes I do...
I know both #9 as well as this MIX-TAPE... developed amongst the vibrant currents resident to the Dallas/Denton regions of cultivation for deeply housed underground while he was a student at North Texas University during that time... I don't think he lives here in Dallas anymore because until seeing your query now I realize its been at least a decade since anything has caused my memories of him to surface. however my memories of him are all positive...I'm recalling a natural integrity his presence carried to any situation... I played with him alot over that same summer at an after hours venue named Club Cain in Deep Ellum.
He stayed consistently humble, well read in quality science-fiction, his name is Alan Summner... hopefully happy in his early 30s now and I'm sure he would be pleased to see his mix is still stirring interest...
In Joy.
