PEOPLE AND STYLES IN THE EDM CULTURE COME AND GO, BUT I REMAIN.

Afco-skynet (one of Floridas longest running dj DUO?s/ partnerships) have split after 8 years together, working on numerous electronic music projects. Influenced by that original Florida funk sound that reined in the 90?s, Skyco Productzens has released their lasted record ?The Dove Ep? in March of 2006 . But with every bad there is a good. The artist formally known as SKYNET is in Bass Bin Studio working on solo EDM projects as Tyler Durden (derived from Fight club the movie) under the label True Skool Music.

1. When did you start djing??

I think it was 95, I ran into long time friend dj liquid (chris) at the stardust rave. We got to talking and catching up. I told him my interest in djing and how I wanted to do more with the music that I loved and he help me get a set of tables and a mixer an kind-of became my mentor. He showed me the basic ideas of mixing and using the ept. Every year since, I have worked on getting more involved in the music and gaining skills.?

2. When did you start producing??

Ever since I had a working understanding of the dj eqpt available, I have been interested in producing. Immediately I upgraded to a sampling mixer and dual tape decks so I could create original intro?s and remixes for my mixtapes. But not until 2001 when computers and software became popular and cheap ways to get into it did I change my interest from djing to producing.?

3. Our readers might know you by another name, why the change??

What's in a name anyway? It's really hard to think of a name, But I know as long as you make a good track, the name will stick. Over the past decade I have released music under many names and have dabbled in a lot of styles to keep things fresh for me. Most recently My partner @ Skyco had many concerns of me using the recognition from Skyco/ Afco-skynet in pushing my new tracks and albums as he was getting out of the business and did not want the Label to continue. So with the new label came a new persona.?

4. What new tracks are you working on??

Promoting and more Promoting and trying to squeeze in personal time for me and my girlfriend. When I get back in the studio though I am mainly working on getting back to my preference and roots in Electro funk for my next cd release ?In Tyler We Trust?. In the development stage I usually produce a little and erase a little more as I have a plethora of ideas and do not set limits to changing my mind about any one of them.?

5. What gear are you using to produce on?

An Hp Laptop (dual Core intel) running Acid, Sound Forge, Wave lab and Roxio software with a sound blaster card running thru a Pioneer effect mixer, Also Tech 1200?s, micro korg and a roland 307 groovebox are in the the mix. I listen to them all on my new Event 20/20 bi amp monitors (recommended by Duece from warp records) that are switched between some gemeni Club speakers for the real effect. I am currently learning Fruity loops for its vocoders and synths. Also Abelton may be in the future for live shows.

6. You own a label or are you on a label?

Currently I am releasing under, True Skool Music, my sub label of Skyco that I concepted and developed last year, But I am always looking to meet label reps or owners who are interested in my tracks and remixes.

7.Tto get to know your musical taste, name your five fav edm tracks of all?
Time.

Wow! That is the toughest question on here as I am a rare record collector and EDM music enthusiast. Ummmm (1hr later). Afrika Bambaattaa/ Soul Sonic Force ?Planet Rock, Dj Sploo remix of serving you, Infinity-children of the 80?s , Opus III ?It?s a fine Day, Dj Trashy ?Underworld, Torres Bros ?Feel the Vibe, Jocelyn Endriquez-A little bit of ecstasy, Tony Allen-Take me Higher and dj X- Cherish the Day remix (oops J)?

8. How about your five fav non edm tracks?

9. Whats the future hold for tyler durden? any new projects/collabs we?
should be on the look out for??

Only time can tell, But I have the ambition to get An Offical website, and new music out by spring. I am working on ?In Tyler We Trust?. This cd will be a combination of originals and some remixes, Including Keoki, John the dentist, Uc Splizziff and Warp Bros. Currently I only have 2 originals and 2 remixes done (but not mastered) so I have a long way to go. And of course I stay on top of doing remix contest on Acid Planet or anywhere I can find them. I have an Automatic remix done for AgentK/ Jbreak that they now have. Hopefully something will come of that.

10. Any new weeklys or shows coming up our Florida readers can see you at??
