i'm kinda eh about the whole genre, but two of my boys from KC just started spinning and i'm appreciating their mixes.

thoughts on dubstep?

well, the sound has been blowing up in Tx. I definitely dig it live. Only been to two shows but the shit is banging live. You pretty much do have to here it on a proper system to "get it". Some of the ultra minimal stuff can get boring, but there seems to be different flavors rising out of an ocean of tunes. I dig a lot of the more breaky tunes. Believe they call it half step. It definitely opened my eyes to other styles that I never really checked out. bassline house, grime, twostep.................... We'll see where it goes. Hopefully it doesn't pull a dnb and go all hardasfuckdeathmetalnochicksgotopartiesallsausage era.............although there would be a limit to the speed.

Some peeps I know in Winston-Salem, NC are all about dubstep, and they play some cool ass shit! So yeah, dubstep is definately good in my book! I haven't really heard any minimal stuff... All the stuff I've heard has been basically mostly slowed down breaks with an Electro sound. The main guy I know who has played some cool ass shit is Lroyx... I'll hit him up and see if he has any stuff he is able to post up.

dallas is doin it big on the dubstep tip. definately check out mundo and his dub assembly nights in dallas if you havent already. the sound is quality at the green elephant. they bring in 2 sb218's for low freq reinforcement.

i've always been a fan of dubstep, it feels like london's answer to dirty south hip hop if you ask me.

As someone who loves all kinds of breakbeats I've gotta say I really like what I've heard. I'm definitely keeping an eye on the style.
